museum advocate

for incoming feature exhibitions

Take out the guesswork, time, and effort when it comes to selecting and planning for incoming exhibitions. You can rely on someone with years of experience working on both sides of the table, as an exhibition provider and as a museum consultant. I know what to look for, who to ask, what I can negotiate (price), and how to get the best possible exhibition and contract for your museum. Depending on your needs, I can even manage the process of planning for the exhibition with your staff and the exhibition organizer.

  • If your museum or exhibition venue regularly hosts traveling exhibitions and/or if you’d like to in the future, I can help you search, select and negotiate the right exhibition for you. I will expose you to new exhibitions around the world, manage the selection process (with your guidance on preferences), and I will secure the best possible price for you.

  • I can help you with project management in anticipation of receiving the exhibition. This includes floor planning, hiring local labor, renting equipment, coordinating and booking travel for the exhibition organizer, and leading the exhibition installation as your museum’s project manager.

  • A statement from an exhibition organizer:

“….your role and involvement was key in getting this contract signed. Due to your past work experience, you were able to see both points of view – ours as the “seller” and [your museum client’s] as the “client”. You knew what each side needed and toed that line very graciously. It was also good for you to have that ‘insider knowledge’ of what aspects of the contract would be deal-breakers – which you were able to communicate with us during negotiations. I also appreciated the pokes (or prods) from you to us, so to respond to [your museum client’s] emails so that they didn’t think we went AWOL (we all get bogged down with so many emails, and so having that nudge was appreciated on my end). It was also nice that you summarized key points of phone calls or contract discussions succinctly – essentially inadvertently helping me!”

“Liberty Science Center had the benefit of working with Carrie on several previous projects, so it was a no-brainer when we needed support to fill out our traveling exhibition schedule to engage Dala Projects. Carrie's strategic mindset, positivity, and collaborative approach have been instrumental in our successful partnership. We value her expertise and insights when selecting and negotiating for new exhibitions. She’s found efficiencies to streamline our selection process and innovative solutions to secure favorable results with exhibition providers. I highly recommend engaging Dala Projects in this work.”

Traveling exhibition consultation

  • Are you interested in producing a traveling exhibition? Or do you wish to travel an exhibition you hadn’t intended for tour? Ask me to how to get started, what to expect, and determine the feasibility of it all. Together, we’ll make the proper arrangements from start to finish, finding efficiencies along the way. I will present you with a strategic plan, with financial outlooks. This way, you can make an informed decision whether or not to move forward. If we do move forward, we will operate smoothly.

  • A great place to start is with concept brainstorming, leaning on your institution’s collection/expertise. I’ll help you to determine what you have that the traveling exhibition museum market wants.

  • Wherever you are in the process, I can support you from concept creation to exhibit development, design, fabrication, and tour operations. Consider me as part of your project team supporting you along the way.

  • Let me take care of your

    exhibition tour. My work includes:

    Exhibition Sales & Marketing

  • “Carrie has been (and continues to be) a wonderful collaborator. Her insights and industry knowledge have been instrumental in our development and operation of new touring exhibitions. Working with Carrie we were able to connect with key decision makers and craft our offerings to the needs of the venues. Carrie’s assistance in all aspects of our work has been fantastic. We consider her a team member and a contributor to our growth and decision making. Carrie’s work has been precise, efficient and professional. I would highly recommend Carrie to other exhibition producers and venues that are looking to create the best outcome in their work.”
